White Baptisia
This has many similarities to False Blue Indigo (is this false white indigo?!) in that it is a strong plant that always looks good, flowering in the spring, and native. But what I love about this plant is how it is different! While it is definitely very comfortable nestled in with all the other riots of color, the form of this plant is much less bushy, and much more architectural, lending itself to being more of a specimen.
I wish I had a picture of what I mean – it has silvery green leafless stork legs with pure white pea flowers that are held above the small bits of foliage.
It gets an easy 4′ and can be VERY late to come up. Every year I think it’s not going to grow, and then, overnight it seems, there it is all bare-legged and graceful. Now I mark it with a stick so I don’t forget.
