This majestic tree can be seen in its full stature on Decker Street in Viroqua. But why oh why is it not readily available at nurseries?

Now maybe we’ll find out it’s tough to grow, but it doesn’t seem to have many requirements but a somewhat moist and also well drained soil. Like so many things. Doesn’t need acidity. Doesn’t need a partner to fruit.

I’m excited to grow one. Or two. judging by the one in Viroqua, expect a height of 80’ or so.
