Bareroot Trees are Fun

I think bareroot trees look intimidating. I have been handling them a number of years but when I really look at them in their naked glory it seems like they couldn’t ever live.

But they do. And they thrive. And you can definitely fly by the seat of your pants and drive it home and then decide what to do. Buckets of water, moving it from shade to shade while you decide where to plant, racing around to find some mulch. I have done it this way for sure. And they still live, but it’s a little frantic.

But if you can make a plan you will enjoy planting bareroot trees so much more and you’ll feel confident in their future. Simply choose where you want it to be, and maybe even dig the hole. This way all thoughts of whether you need extra black dirt or compost or bark is handled before you have it in your possession.

All you have left is the fun part!

This is a weeping willow I planted last spring on April 12. It’s golden and budded now and I’m so happy I planted it.

Sometimes tree planting can feel very precious, especially when you’re investing hundreds of dollars per tree. Planting a bareroot tree, or a younger potted one, makes the event so much more accessible. And repeatable. And they aren’t heavy. I’m excited to get at it.

Check out the tree and shrub lists on the website.

Bareroot trees and shrubs are 10% off until they are potted. Because of how they’re stored, you need to pre-arrange pickup, so message me!
